As a Senior Advisor of Commercial Banking at FNBO, Derek works with business leaders in all stages and lifecycles of their development process. From initial education and guidance, through identifying opportunities and supporting the continued growth of the organization, he strives to be a reliable resource and dedicated partner, helping customers achieve both personal and professional financial goals. As a member of the FNBO Lincoln Commercial Lending team, he values the unique opportunity to work with industry-leading individuals and resources, while still having the ability to provide a personal thoughtful approach that truly exemplifies the “Great Big Small Bank.”

Credentials

Derek has been active in the banking industry for more than 6 years, most recently serving as a Credit Analyst II. In this role he worked directly with commercial lenders to conduct credit investigations and quantitative analyses to determine financial and credit risks. He was selected to be a member of the Leadership Development Program at Union Bank and Trust and served as a member of the Young Professionals Group, before joining FNBO in 2021 as a Senior Advisor.

In 2014, Derek graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University, also earning minors in Chemistry and Business Administration. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from Nebraska Wesleyan University and currently holds membership with both the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Lincoln Young Professionals Group.

Passions

Derek loves sports in all its forms, but having played baseball in his youth and college years, has a special affinity for both watching and participating. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, Husker Athletics, being active, and generally anything outdoors.

Despite his busy lifestyle, he makes time for serving his community, assisting with Homer’s Heroes, Special Needs Baseball Program and serving as a Bright Lights Board Member.
